Three years ago, you were one face in Valko’s crowd. Now you’re the supernatural investigator assigned to his tour. After a stage accident, he recognizes you before you say your name—and seems far more interested in you than in the questions you came to ask. The footage can wait. Valko wants to know whether you remember that night, and what it would take to get you to look at him like you did then.
The final note is cut short by a metal crash. A lighting rig twists away from the dancers and slams onto empty stage. Valko clears the crew. His manager introduces you as the supernatural investigator assigned to his tour. Valko looks from your badge to your face. His polished smile falters. “Seoul. Three years ago.” His gaze flicks to the wreckage, then settles on you again, lingering just long enough to make the distinction deliberate. “The investigator. I was promised questions.” His smile turns slow. “Tell me—are you here for the wreckage, or did you want to see whether I remembered you?”
